Digital Government 2024

This popular, interactive conference is a must-attend event. It provides a valuable opportunity to bring together key stakeholders to gain insight into the government’s objectives for digital transformation and hear directly from those responsible for driving this forward. Take the time to reconnect and network with your peers and colleagues, key senior policy makers and decision takers. The conference also features a busy exhibition zone featuring some of Ireland’s leading expert solution providers.

The move towards digital public services continues to gather pace. Launched in May 2023, Better Public Services, the Public Service Transformation 2030 Strategy, sets an overarching vision for ‘inclusive, high quality and integrated public service provision that meets the needs, and improves the lives, of the people of Ireland’. It is framed around three core themes, the first of which is Digital and Innovation at Scale.

Better Public Services will build on strong digital foundations. Connecting Government 2030 was launched last year – a comprehensive digital and ICT Strategy for Ireland’s public services, accelerating progress for the future and creating world-leading digital government services. The Government’s intention to deliver ‘digital first’ services can be seen through existing work by the OGCIO, such as the evolution of MyGovID or the Build to Share programme. The pandemic, and the subsequent public service response, highlighted the ability of public services to deliver at speed, setting a benchmark for mobilisation. Public service design, and a user-centric approach to delivery will be key going forward.

Talent and the workforce of the future will also be a key factor. Work is underway to create a pipeline of talent around critical skills by scaling the ICT apprenticeship model implemented in the civil service into a broader public service apprenticeship approach. Staff must be empowered to play an active role in transformation.

This conference will feature a range of expert speakers who will talk about their digital transformation journey and look ahead to what’s next as organisations prepare for a digitally driven future.
